ll team is coached by Brittnnay Johnson, who returns for her tenth season and serves as the Assistant Athletic Director.
“Last season was a grind. We finished 12–20, but that record doesn’t really show how much we grew as a team. We battled through injuries and a tough schedule, and the players kept showing up and competing. It was one of those years that tested us, but it also helped us lay the foundation for what’s next,” said Coach Brittanny Johnson.
Even though last season the Kits did not reach their potential, they have put in the extra work during the offseason in an effort to end with a better record and go deeper into the playoffs.
“I’m really excited about this group. We’re smaller in numbers, but this team is connected and competitive. They’ve put in a ton of work in the offseason and are starting to understand what it takes to compete every day,” said Johnson, “We talked at the end of last season about what each player could do over the next nine months to make this program better, and they took that to heart. Every one of them worked to improve in the areas we challenged them on, and it’s showing already.“
With two seniors leaving the 2024-2025 team, the 2026 seniors will have a place to step up and show their own ways of leadership
“I’m really looking forward to seeing this year’s senior class step into those roles. They’ve already started to take ownership, and I love the direction they’re headed,” said Johnson.
With just two seniors leaving, the team stays pretty strong and consistent. Each individual has taken accountability and helped themselves improve and gain new knowledge and skills.
“I think there’s been improvement from every single one of our returners, so honestly, look out for them all,” voiced Johnson. “Each player has taken a step forward and brings something unique to the team. That’s what makes this group so exciting, it’s going to be a collective effort every night.”
With last season’s challenges, the team kept their heads up and have an optimistic attitude for this season. Their goal is to play together and put in the effort every day.
“Our goal is to compete every single day and play connected basketball. We talk a lot about toughness, communication, and doing the little things that help us win close games. If we stay consistent in those areas, I really believe this group can take a big step forward and surprise people.”
With Coach Johnson’s positive mindset and excitement for the upcoming season, the Kits are ready for their home opener on December 5 against Deerfield.
