Katherine Granchalek started playing lacrosse at age four, influenced by her older brother. A four-year starter on ETHS’ varsity lacrosse team, she has led the team to multiple sectional wins.
Granchalek will continue pursuing academics and her lacrosse career at Kenyon College next year.
Team chemistry is key for Granchalek, built over years of playing with her ETHS and Team One teammates.
“The twenty of us have a chemistry that makes it easier to incorporate new players,” she explained.
Granchalek has cherished the time of being a captain this year. Alongside her best friend, she has thoroughly enjoyed leading this year’s impressive lacrosse team.
“I joined with Bridget, my best friend, and it’s been great to be a leader,” she said. “I’ve loved watching the team develop.”
Choosing Kenyon was easy, thanks to its balance of academics and athletics. Granchalek confirmed it was the right fit for her when she visited Kenyon’s campus.
Granchalek plans to study biology on a pre-med track, aiming to become a physical therapist.
As her high school career ends, she reflects on her favorite moments.
“My highlights are winning close games, especially when we’re not expected to win,” she said. “I’m sad it’s my last season, but I’m excited for what’s next.”
