As Theo Rocca makes the transition to college at Washington University in St. Louis, he has one thing on his mind: finish the job.

“What [drives] me the most is [WashU’s] final four loss. They had a great year, but seeing them get so close and the impact they had on the WashU community makes me want to try and go that extra step with the team and bring a championship home,” said Rocca.

Rocca has always dreamt about going to a college smaller than ETHS, but to play competitive basketball there too—it’s a perfect reality. Fresh off a great spring and summer season, Rocca started gaining the interest of many schools. He got many offers, but WashU’s size and academic rigor persuaded him to choose them.
“I know a lot of other athletes have to wait a longer time to find the school they want, but I thought WashU was a school that fit me well, so I didn’t have any problems making that decision,” remarked Rocca.

Going into his freshman year there, Rocca has the chance to play with a cross-town rival, the Trevian Colby Smith.

“Knowing that I’ll be playing with Colby Smith next year is a great feeling. He is a great guy, and I’ve played with him for a couple of years through club basketball,” said Rocca. I’ve also been playing with him since feeder days, so it’s nice knowing that I’ll have a good friend through my four years at university.”
