Growing up inside the Viamille family, soccer has always been a staple. After years of watching, and playing soccer, Corin Viamille will be taking her talents to the next level. She will be attending Colorado State University Pueblo in the fall, to play collegiate soccer at the Division III level.
“My dad played college and high school soccer, and he ended up teaching my sister how to play. Since I was a part of a soccer family, and since my sister went on to play collegiate soccer, it was kinda all I have known,” Viamille said.
Viamille began playing soccer at the young age of 5, beginning with AYSO. Soon after, Viamille’s talents were evident, and she started playing club soccer. Having an older sister and family connections to soccer programs, Viamille grew up playing with older age groups and boys.
“Going to club soccer at Jahbat, they didn’t have a girls team for my age, so I would play with the boys. It definitely taught me to play faster,” Viamille said. “It’s a different game with boys, and it helped me grow as a player.”
As Viamille got to high school, she continued rigorous nights of training that led to her earning a spot on varsity as a sophomore. Before this, she was brought up to play at the varsity level while they were competing for state as a freshman. Ever since she joined Evanston soccer, she has realized the importance of community.
“I value having good chemistry out on the field. I don’t like playing with people I despise. Obviously you have to thug it out but it’s so much better when you enjoy the people you’re playing with,” Viamille said.
Excited to play soccer in Colorado, Viamille is also looking to replicate the strong connections she has created in high school. Her extroverted personality will be missed here but will bring plenty of energy to the next level.
“I’m excited to find new places and get out of Evanston and get away from my family a little bit,” Viamille said. “When my sister first went to play collegiate soccer, she told me that everyone’s just as good or better than you. I am nervous about that but overall excited for the future.”
Viamille plans on majoring in business management next year.
