Colin Livatino, starting quarterback and son of ETHS Athletic director Chris Livatino, will continue to play football at DIII Amherst University.
Livatino was immediately drawn to Amherst because of its strong academics.
“I am someone who puts more work into my academics than my sport. So I could not refuse an offer from a school that is one of the best in the country when it comes to academics,” remarked Livatino.
While Colin grew up playing sports, he did not touch a football until he was in sixth grade and started out playing as a wide receiver due to his small size.
“I decided to transfer to quarterback because of how much fun I had playing catch with my dad. After a few JV games, I realized that I was a much better quarterback than wide receiver, so I stuck with it for the rest of my high school career,” explained Livatino.
Livatino spent two years as the varsity starting quarterback, finishing fifth all-time in touchdowns and third in passing yards. He also holds the single-game passing record of 406 yards in a game against GBS. Off the field, Livatino created a lasting impact by cofounding a revamped ETHS student section called the Kit Pit, which greatly improved the atmosphere at ETHS sporting events.
“I have been going to ETHS games for as long as I can remember, so when I felt the atmosphere was lacking, I knew that I had to step in,” commented Livatino.
After college, Colin wants to stay in the game of football and become a high school coach.
