From the moment Alice Lemmon saw her sister playing water polo at Macalester College, she knew she wanted to follow in her footsteps.
“My older sister Molly is currently on the Macalester water polo team, and seeing her on the team helped me realize it was something I wanted to do as well,” noted Lemmon.
Having picked up water polo as a sophomore, Lemmon questioned whether she would be good enough to play in college. Despite having one less year to develop compared to her peers, she worked hard and stayed determined, and that work ethic had Macalester calling. After talking with the coaches and taking a recruitment visit, Lemmon determined that Macalester College was the perfect fit.
“I got to watch a practice and spend time with the players on the team, which was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed seeing the day-in-the-life of student-athletes, and overall, the experience confirmed my interest in Macalester,” stated Lemmon.
Although Lemmon is excited to start a new chapter in her life, the ETHS water polo program will always hold a special place in her heart.
“Being part of the Evanston water polo program has been a great experience because it has developed my love for water polo. I just want to thank my amazing coaches and teammates who push me to grow and offer constant support,” said Lemmon.
