On Monday, April 14, ETHS announced that it had selected Quiana McNeal as its Principal. McNeal, who currently serves as Director of Curriculum and Equitable Practices at nearby Township High School District 214, will succeed current Principal Taya Kinzie, who stepped down earlier this year to pursue private practice as a social worker.
“I am honored to serve as the next principal of ETHS and to become part of this outstanding school community. ETHS has a long-standing tradition of excellence, and I am eager to collaborate with our students, staff, and families to build upon that legacy,” said McNeal in the press release that announced her new role.
ETHS had been looking for a new administrator since February, and in deciding on McNeal, went through a “rigorous search process that included community input and four rounds of interviews with students, staff, and school and district leaders,” according to the press release. On April 14, McNeal was unanimously approved by the District 202 Board of Education, and will officially begin her new role on July 1.
In other administrative changes, Nichole Boyd, current Dean of Student Safety, Success, and Wellbeing has been named the new Director of Alumni Relations. She is succeeding David Futransky, who is retiring at the end of the school year. And in the math department, Jake Mills was named Department Chairperson for Mathematics after his interim role this year.
