Fall Play: 12 Angry Jurors
12 jurors are set to decide the fate of a 16 year old boy accused of murdering his father.
“My Freshman Year I auditioned for my first ETHS production. 12 Angry Jurors was the first production that ETHS put on after being unable to do live theatre due to COVID-19. The actors in 12 Angry Jurors taught me what a great cast is and Mr. Carney taught me the importance of having a great director by successfully filling that role himself. I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity.” – Senior Gracie Puricelli
Fall Frosh Soph: Radio Play Disaster
The science fiction radio show “Battle of the Planets” goes completely off the rails when multiple wacky characters each mess it up in their own way.
“It was the first high school theater experience I ever had, and it jump started my love for being onstage” – Senior Scythe Malone
Winter Play: Blood at the Root
Explores themes of racial injustice through a story taking place at a high school in the American South.
“Blood at the Root was a transformational experience in which I learned more about myself as an actor and as a Black man.” – Senior Zach Cutter
Winter Frosh Soph: Wong Kids and the Secret of the Space Chupacabra Go
Violet and Bruce Wong must travel to space to stop an evil Space Chupacabra from destroying their universe.
“Wong Kids” is maybe the best script I’ve ever read. It says “Yes” to everything. Flying rocks? Yes. Space wolves? Yes. It’s simultaneously ridiculous, and deeply meaningful about the nature of growing up. Everyone in the cast bonded so tightly and had so much fun. I’ll always remember those puppets.” – Senior Louise Baer
Musical: Joseph
A musical retelling of the story of Joseph, who is sold into slavery by his brothers and must find his way back home.
“Joseph remains my favorite ETHS performance that I’ve been a part of. The cast was so talented and kind, the show was so much fun, and it inspired me to be a part of many more ETHS productions.” – Senior Arlo Lee
Sophomore Year 22-23:
YAMOLAND: The Sketchiest Place on Earth
The annual student run sketch comedy show – this one was centered around a theme park
“Meeting new people that I would ultimately become friends with and collaborate with for the rest of my highschool experience was possibly the greatest gift I’ve ever received” – Senior Ethan Lloyd
Fall Play: Picasso at the Lapin Agile
Follows a meeting between Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso in the year 1904.
“One of my favorite memories from Picasso was being part of such a close-knit cast. It was not only a fun and fulfilling experience, but also one that led to a performance we could all be proud of. Picasso will definitely stand out as one of the highlights of my time in Evanston theater.” – Senior Nat Sotnick
Fall Frosh Soph: Metamorphoses
Multiple vignettes of well known Greek myths.

The Jenkins family reunites at a funeral filled with secrets, chaos, and truth.

Six guests are invited to a dinner party, not knowing that it will soon turn into a murder mystery.

You gotta pay to pee.
“Urinetown was the show that made me realize I wanted to pursue theater as a major. Every single person in that show felt like they were part of something special and the show represented the power of great teamwork and having love for others.” – Senior Sachin Jain
Junior Year 23-24:
YAMO Stage Fright
The annual student run sketch comedy show – this one was centered around horror
“YAMO Stage Fright was really fun to put together! From rehearsing scenes to agonizing over getting dances right, it was really enjoyable to feel like a part of something bigger than myself.” – Senior Max Beck
Fall Play: Everybody
A character named “Everybody” is summoned by Death to explore the meaning of life and death. Specific roles are randomized each night, so the actors don’t know who they are playing.

Winter Play: A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Four lovers become tricked by fairies, making their love all tangled between each other, all while a beginner theatre group attempts putting on a performance for the wedding.
“A perfect first show at ETHS. It helped me rediscover the magic of theatre.” – Senior Celeste Riemersma
Musical: Matilda
A genius girl uses her newly obtained telekinetic powers to get rid of a corrupt principal at her school.
“Matilda was my favorite show I did at ETHS because it felt like a very important story to tell. Being a part of the show made me realize the power young people can have, and it made me realize I wanted to pursue a career in music or drama education.” – Senior Ethan Arnold

Fall Play: Radium Girls
A story about the true events that happened in 20th century radium factories, where many women died because they were unaware about the dangers of working so closely with radium.
“There was a sense of duty to the text and characters that was really infectious.” – Senior Nathan Kane
“Absolutely outstanding. I left the upstairs theater that night and I went home and watched the movie, just to see how we adapted it as a play. It was a very fantastic production.” – Dr. Campbell
Winter Play: Candide
Blind optimist “Candide” faces every tragedy he could possibly imagine, all while keeping the mindset that “this is the best of all possible worlds.”
“This will always be my ultimate play. The absolute heart that went into every part of making it, will make it my favorite to be apart. I was so blessed to be able to play Cunegonde. I will never forget her, and how she helped me grow as an actor and as a person. The whole cast was lovely and we became a community so quickly.
