When fall rolls around, Annika Wortowski will be swimming at Amherst College in Massachusetts. She has swam at ETHS for the past four years and is ecstatic to swim another four at a higher level.
She has grown up swimming her whole life and is excited to continue her journey into college.
“I just love swimming and I don’t know how I would go without swimming in my life,” remarked Wartowski.
She is taking after her mom in her journey with swimming, as her mom also chose to swim in college and encouraged Annika along the way.
“She always talked about how fun it was to be around all of her friends, and just to have that athletic community and to go into college having a kind of built-in family,” stated Wartowski.
The highlight of her career wasn’t a specific moment, but the happiness she felt being around her team and the memories they made
“Pushing each other to do the best we can and us all looking out for each other. And bus rides, too, bus rides are so fun,” stated Wartowski.
Next year, she is excited to work with her new coach, Connor Beaulieu, who has been very supportive of her and her goals during the recruitment process.
“He’s super nice and just super supportive and very observant. So, I’m super lucky to be able to have him as a coach next year,” regarded Wartowski.
She recommends that future wildkits look for a place that they can call home and find themselves at.
She is excited and ready to “get to meet a bunch of people, learn cool new things, swim meets and just have all the freedoms of college…and the all you can eat food bar.”
