Under first-year head coach Ben Johnson, Chicago played with resilience and grit. After starting 0-2, the Bears bounced back impressively, winning key games late in the regular season to secure home-field advantage in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.

Second-year quarterback Caleb Williams had a breakthrough year, throwing for the franchise record 3,942 yards, and became the first Bears quarterback to have a 3,900-yard season.

The highlight of the Bears’ season came in the Wild Card Playoff game against longtime rivals the Green Bay Packers. Trailing by 18 points, the Bears staged a remarkable comeback to win 31-27, scoring 25 points in the 4th quarter, marking their first playoff victory in 15 years. Williams threw for 361 yards and two touchdown passes in the game, and the win energized the city and the fanbase.

The Bears’ playoff run ended in the Divisional Round against the Los Angeles Rams in a close 20-17 overtime loss, but the Bears’ competitive effort showed that they can compete with the NFL’s best.

Defensively, Chicago improved dramatically and created turnovers at a high rate, while the offense balanced a strong passing attack with a productive ground game. With a young core and a new winning identity, and a culture of perseverance, 2025 feels like a new era in Chicago Bears football.
