For Sienna Mason, swimming has been a part of life since before she can remember, and it wasn’t something she wanted to give up just yet. Mason will be taking her talents to Stonehill College in Easton, Massachusetts for a chance to compete at the Division I level.
“I love swimming,” she said. “It would have felt weird to just be done with it since it’s a big part of my life.”
Initially, Sienna doubted her talents and didn’t think she would be able to compete at a collegiate level, but during her junior year she began to get emails from coaches and met with the head of the college bound student athlete department.
Sienna gives credit to her coach at Evanston, Kevin Auger, for always pushing her to drop time.
“I dropped over 2 seconds in a season once,” alluding this accomplishment to the help of Auger.
She also is appreciative of her coaches back on her club team, Anne and Gale, for always taking the time to push her, especially when she was younger.
While Sienna will miss her current teammates and her family, she is looking forward to meeting new people and training with a new team that will work her harder than she’s ever trained before.
“I am excited to see how I can grow in a different environment with a different coach,” said Mason. “And live in a different part of the country.”
