The boys golf team looks to replicate last year’s success

The boys golf team hopes to build off of the success they had last year and exceed expectations for this upcoming season.

Led by seniors Will Bellios, Joe Bergmann, Michael Levitas, Josh Lipman and Jack Skidmore, the varsity team is filled with leaders, not just on the links, but outside of the game as well.

“I really like the character of our guys this year,” coach Jed Curtis said. “I think we really have a chance to do something special here and reach heights that have only happened a few times in our history.”

Skidmore, the captain of the team, echoes his coach’s excitement and believes big things are coming this year.

“We had a really good year last year, and my hope for us is to get more of our guys downstate and into sectionals and beyond,” Skidmore said. “I think there’s a good chance that can happen for us, and it’s really exciting thinking about it. This is a good group of guys who try and motivate one another for the common goal.”

The team chemistry is at an all time high, and players are successfully balancing their roles as both athletes and students. The team’s next match is tomorrow, Sept. 28 at Lake Forest.
