Kingsley Elementary School, home of the Comets, focuses on community, opportunity, motivation, empowerment, trust and scholarship.
“Our community brings an incredible range of cultures, languages, perspectives and lived experiences,” said Principal David Davis. “We actively work to honor and represent every student’s identity in our curriculum, stories, celebrations and school-wide experiences.”
Kingsley offers more than 10 clubs, a school talent show and other activities, and the campus amenities are a draw.
“Kingsley has a sport court for basketball, gaga ball pit, two playground areas, The Reid Garden, a baseball and kickball field and another field that kids usually use for football,” said teacher Alyssa Zuravel, who has worked at the school for over 10 years.
In addition to these popular features, accessibility is a priority at the school, with elevators and bathrooms located within classrooms. There are no stairs at any of the school’s entrances, ensuring students can enter and exit safely. The school also provides a free or reduced-price meal program for families who may need assistance paying for their children’s meals.
Students can take part in the Books and Breakfast program, numerous clubs and classes and a new after-school STEM program for 3rd- through 5th-graders. Most of all, many value the school’s sense of community.
“The thing that makes Kingsley truly special is all the people who come here every day and work with the students,” said Zuravel. “We care so much about our students and have built strong relationships with families over the years.”
