Many hearts at ETHS broke on February 13th, when Dr. Kinzie announced that she will be leaving ETHS after the end of the school year.
Dr. Kinzie has worked tirelessly at Evanston Township High School for 21 years, filling various positions throughout her time at ETHS. She has been a Social Worker, a Dean, Associate Principal for Student Services, and finally Assistant Superintendent/Principal.
She has made a huge impact on Evanston Township High School, leading her coworkers and students with wisdom and kindness.
“Dr. Kinzie’s presence has genuinely made our community warmer and more compassionate, and I am thankful for the lasting impact she has had on me, as well as on countless students, families, and staff members.”
Said Ferzana Chavda, who worked with Dr. Kinzie when she was the Assistant Principal of the Student Services Department, and still works with her in her current role.
During her time at ETHS, Dr. Kinzie has had a special interest in mental health. Dr. Campbell, superintendent, remarks that her work has had a tremendous mark on the school.
Dr. Kinzie has particularly influenced mental health policies that have been an important addition to ETHS.
“You know, when she was a dean, she helped really transform our dean’s office from a mental health perspective, which was huge for us at that time… and even now as the principal, she’s kind of continued with a lot of those efforts, just from the principal seat.”
Kinzie worked hard to develop mental health protocols such as the Acknowledge, Care, Tell Act and was a leader during Sexual Assault Awareness week events.
Forging the way with these policies is the way Dr. Kinzie has always operated at Evanston Township High School, and this will be remembered for years to come.
Dr. Campbell adds that he has a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for Dr. Kinzie.
This is a shared sentiment within the building. Students will remember Dr. Kinzie greeting them cheerfully at the door in the morning, always with a smile on her face.
Now, Dr. Kinzie is moving on.
“21 years ago I began at ETHS as a Social Worker, and even as a Dean, Associate Principal for Students Services, and Assistant Superintendent/Principal, I have always remained a Social Worker at heart. Now I am going back to my roots as a social worker and doing private practice therapy, supporting our community in a different way with my next chapter.”
Kinzie shares that she will greatly miss the Evanston Township High School community.
