The arts aren’t for everyone—and that’s exactly what makes true talent stand out. Quetzalli Brisette, a sophomore, is one of those talented individuals; through her paintings and sketches, her achievements and struggles are enough to inspire anyone drawn to the arts.
“I’ve been doing art for as long as I can remember,” reflects Brisette.
Growing up, art has always been a big part of her life; she and her family would often spend time crafting and collaborating on projects, moments that helped inspire her creativity and made art an enjoyable part of her life. Whether she’s picking up a pen or pencil out of boredom or for relaxation, her view of art has evolved; not simply being something she just does, but a primary tool that helps her unwind and express herself.
Since art has brought her relief, Brisette strives to share that same feeling within the community. Three years ago, Quetzalli was invited to a local gallery, which was one of her greatest artistic achievements, to display her art.
“I drew ‘Flower People’, people with flowers as heads. I pressed these images onto T-shirts, tote bags, and made stickers and stationery,” explains Brisette.
Brisette’s efforts in her work make her art and products striking and vivid. Many people underestimate the amount of time and effort an artist spends managing their hobbies and other aspects of their life.
“Although it is difficult to constantly do art because of my tight schedule, I always find time because it means so much to me,” shares Brisette.
It’s so important that we find time to do the things that we enjoy, whether it’s art, music, cooking, or any other hobby. Without doing these things, we can end up manifesting stress and struggling to enjoy our everyday lives.
Overall, Brisette is an inspiration to everyone because of her dedication to her art and joy in sharing it with others. By surrounding herself with creativity, she highlights the importance of appreciating the art around us, and also appreciating other student creators, like herself, who produce it.
