Since the first time Sasha Hammond touched a field hockey stick, she fell in love with the sport. Hammond has played most her life, but it was in eighth grade that she realized she wanted to play at the next level. Now, more than four years later, she is locked and loaded to continue her blossoming career at Bryant University next season.
As she plans on majoring in marketing and minoring in psychology, Hammond is very excited to go to Bryant.
Hammond mentioned worrying about the stress of going to Bryant, but she also saw a brighter side of things.
“I’m really excited about how stressful it’s gonna be. I’m excited to get to know all the team and to try to navigate myself through college,” said Hammond.
“I have visited multiple times, and I had a lot of recruiting events there, and I met the coach, and I instantly love the team, and they have a really great business school. So I just thought it was perfect,” says Hammond.
As perfect as Bryant is for Hammond, she is also extremely appreciative of her years at ETHS.
“The field hockey community is amazing. Everyone’s so nice. I love being able to travel all over the place, meeting new people, playing new teams,” Hammond reflected.
As she leaves for Bryant next year to continue her journey through competitive field hockey, Hammond has one more piece of advice for incoming freshmen who are aspiring to play field hockey at the next level.
“Definitely put in the work and condition–even if you don’t want to,” implores Hammond. “But overall, just try to have a lot of fun and learn from your peers.”
