After a 2021 season finishing second in conference, the girls lacrosse team looks to repeat that success this year.

Senior Lily Mason, who will be continuing her lacrosse career at Kenyon College, is “beyond excited” for her senior season with the promising opportunities they will have as a strong team.

We are all very proud of ourselves for finishing second in conference and are looking forward to working hard to accomplish even more this year.”

COVID-19 impacted the team’s 2020 season when it was cut short, but Mason says that, last year, things started to look up and hopes that will continue this spring.

“Although we had some [COVID-19] restrictions last year, we are so grateful we were able to have an awesome season with competitive games and practices.”

Last year, Evanston finished 14-4 overall, with its only losses coming against New Trier or Loyola Academy.

One of the highlights of last season was the Wildkits’ two wins over Maine South As the Wildkits return to the field for the 2021-22 season, they will face off against the Hawks to start things off on March 29.

“Our first game this season is against Maine South, one of our biggest rivals,” Mason says. “We can’t wait.”
