Senior water polo player Halley Seed is going out west, as she committed to playing water polo for the University of California- Santa Clara.

Seed was deciding between Santa Clara and Bucknell, but chose the Broncos because of something that Bucknell couldn’t offer: an outdoor pool.

“It’s really hard to pass up the opportunity of playing in an outdoor pool where it’s sunny most days of the year,” Seed said. “That was definitely a draw for me, instead of playing in an indoor pool for the next four years of my life.”

Going to college can be an overwhelming experience for anyone, so it’s important to feel comfortable as an incoming freshmen. Seed found that through her college visit to Santa Clara.

“When I went on my campus visit [to Santa Clara], the team was so friendly and nice. It was senior night and they invited me to their team barbeque, and it was a lot of fun getting to meet those girls,” Seed said.

The ETHS water polo program taught Seed the game, and attributes all of her success to the program and coach Andy Miner.

“The past four years have been the best years of my life, and I’ve been with the greatest group of girls, but now I’m ready to be tan year-round.”
