Fallin’ into season: Girls Swimming

The youthful varsity girls swim team looks to add another strong season to it’s already proven record.

“Underclassmen bring so much energy to the team which makes meets and practices more fun,” senior captain Anna Clemson explained.

Standout underclassmen include freshmen Lily Consiglio and Annika Macy and sophomores Erin Long, Natalie Long, Sam Rhodes, and Mackenzie Tucker.

With such a young team, there is a great need for strong leaders that provide useful guidance.

“With a team full of freshmen we have to pay a little more attention to make sure that everyone is having fun and knows what’s going on,” said Clemson.

To integrate freshmen into the team quicker, team activities are planned outside the pool.

“We’re a really tight knit group and we spend a lot of time together in and out of the pool. The bonds that we form at these activities are important since we often spend four hours together in the pool a day,” said Clemson.

Clemson along with co-captains Emma Clay-Barbour, Hazel Gerber, Halley Seed, and Hana Weber encourage team bonding and help to create a fun, supportive atmosphere.

With the strong underclass there will be high expectations for many years to come.

The team’s first dual meet will take place Aug. 31 at home against Loyola.
