Hello everyone,
I hope you all are having an enjoyable time settling into your classes, and a nice fall too!
On November 3rd, the ETHS Student Union will be hosting our annual student voice forum. This is a great opportunity for all students to connect with the ETHS administration and make their opinions heard. The Student Union uses this event to determine the general opinions of ETHS students and then uses that to direct our focus for the year. We will act on what you say at this event, so it is extremely important that you come and speak your mind. This event is held during the school day, with teachers taking their classes to the Hub to participate. You can only attend with a teacher and a class, so encourage your teachers to sign up.
It is important to keep up to date on what your ETHS administration is doing. Every month, the ETHS/D202 school board holds a meeting where important decisions regarding our school are made. On September 8th, the ETHS/D202 school board held its September meeting. Here are some key takeaways:
- There are some changes to course offerings, including a new AP business course, the E-LEAD program, changes to Spanish course offerings, and changes to prerequisites for several classes, including Chem/Phys.
- The communications plan is doing really well- they have more than doubled their Instagram followers in the past year, as well as unveiled our new website (eths202.org) and created the Wildkit Weekly newsletter, among other things.
- Presentation of the budget: We currently have a balanced budget (for the nineteenth year in a row!), but need to address some issues if we wish to have a healthy budget in the coming years. It takes a lot to run ETHS, about $120 million.
This is just a summary of the meeting; if you are interested in learning more, please watch the full school board meeting, which is available online at the ETHS YouTube channel.
See you all at the student voice forum.
Eva
