Noises Off comedy on stage Dec.15-16
Tonight you can check out a British comedy by Tony Award winner, Michael Frayn at 7:30 p.m. in the Upstairs Theatre.
Noises Off is a play within a play and showcases a group of actors in the various stages of performing the traditional farce, Nothing On. The play is directed by Tom Sollers and designed by Aaron Carney.
General admission tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for students and senior citizens. Tickets are available online at www.ethstheatre.com and at the ETHS box office before each performance. The last performance is tomorrow night.
Kiwanis Club honors three scholar athletes
Three students were recently honored by the Kiwanis Club of Evanston for their achievements in academics and athletics. Ta’Mia Banks, Clio Hancock and Aidan Tobin each received the Ted Van Zelst Award.
The Kiwanis Club has recognized hundreds of students in the areas of athletics and fine arts. Each student received a certificate of achievement, a book on leadership and a gift card.
ETHS strengthens support for schools in Malawi, Africa
Since the 2016-17 school year, the ETHS community has been working to help schools in Malawi, Africa where severe drought and famine have impacted sub-Saharan areas. Science teacher Mark Vondracek connected with Andrews Nchessie, science teacher and agriculturalist in Malawi, to reach out to teachers in U.S. and Australia who all together raised funds so land could be purchased for crops. During the past year, ETHS has sent $6,400 to Malawi (equivalent of 4.64 million kwacha).
Seniors Elizabeth Sperti, Noni Shelton, Noah Guale, Ben Silverman and Posey Cohen are working this year to continue the project and help lead further efforts.
